Coaching Archers with a Physical Disability (In-person)

To prepare you for this in-person workshop, you must complete the FREE Micro-Course Coaching Archers with a Disability (Part 1) on Learning Curve, in the Training Library.

Date: Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 September 2026 (in-person)

Times: 10 am - 4 pm

Venue: Llandaff City Bowmen, Cardiff, Wales, CF5 6EJ (If you use the “What Three Word” app on your smart phone, enter: “double.feast.commented” into the app, this will navigate you to the lane leading to our club)

Cost: £90

This two day, in-person workshop is designed to equip coaches and instructors with the confidence and skills to support archers of all abilities in an inclusive and accessible environment.

 

Throughout the course, participants will explore and experience:

  1. Understanding diverse needs and how different impairments can affect shooting.

  2. Developing coaching techniques for archers with challenges related to balance, stance, or strength.

  3. Supporting archers with limited mobility or grip strength in drawing the bowstring.

  4. Inclusive coaching strategies for archers with visual impairments.

  5. Creating a welcoming and accessible archery experience for everyone.

  6. Using and adapting equipment and assistive devices.

  7. Safety and risk management considerations for inclusive coaching.

  8. Effective recruitment and development pathways to support disabled archers in the sport.

 

This course promotes an inclusive approach to coaching, ensuring that archery is accessible and enjoyable for all. Thank you to the Fletchers Trust for their ongoing help and support in our disability work.

Support for participants with additional needs:  Archery is an inclusive sport, and we welcome individuals of all abilities to train as coaches. If you have a disability or additional learning needs, reasonable adjustments can be arranged during training and assessment. Terms and Conditions - Learner Cancellation and Transfer/Booking Policy: 

  • All transfer requests will receive a refund of their fees, minus £5 admin fee and any transaction charges. Learners must then re-register for the next available module.

  • All refund requests for bookings made in error, will receive a refund of their fees, minus £5 admin fee and any transaction charges.

  • Archery GB reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions, modify terms, or refuse service under certain conditions.

  • Cancellations by Learners within 10 days of a module commencing will incur the full cost of the module.

  • No-shows will be charged the full session fee.  They must then re-register for the next available module.

Once payment has been made, you will receive a payment confirmation email. Workshop attendance information will be emailed closer to the date of the workshop.

The Course modules can be booked online with Sport80

The 4 online modules (2x2hrs each) can be  booked individually at £27 each, so could also be used as a refresher for existing coaches.

The two Face-to-Face modules (practical 1 day) are £77 each

An Important Reminder to Coaches from the County Coaching Organiser :-

“Clubs and coaches should know that if they do not renew within a year of the due date from when their coaching qualification expires it will lapse"

COACHES PLEASE NOTE : 

ARCHERY GB NO LONGER ACCEPT THE NSPCC CHILD PROTECTION COURSE anymore and coaches now need to do a COACH UK COURSE which can be found on the AGB website under the “course finder” tab. 
If members are having problems with online access they will need to contact AGB member services, there are face to face course’s available as well but they may need to travel.
